God Allowed Joseph to Interpret the Pharaoh’s 2 Dreams |
Genesis 41:1-57 The First Book of Moses Called Genesis |
It [happened] after 2 full years, the Pharaoh [had a dream] & he [was standing] by the river. [He saw,] 7 [healthy, fat cows] came out of the river & fed in the meadow. [Then, he saw,] 7 other [thin, scrawny cows] came out of the river & stood by the other [cows] at the [edge] of the river. |
The [thin, scrawny cows ate] up the 7 [fat cows & the] Pharaoh woke up. [Then,] Pharaoh [went back to sleep & had a] 2nd [dream.] [He saw] 7 ears of [plump, good] corn came up on 1 stalk & [then saw] 7 thin ears [withered] by the east wind [sprang] up after them & devoured the 7 [plump, good] ears [of corn]. And Pharaoh [woke up] & it was [just] a dream. |
It [happened] in the morning, the [Pharaoh’s] spirit was troubled & he called for all [his] magicians & wise men [in] Egypt & told them his [dreams], but [no one] could interpret them. |
Then, the chief butler [spoke] to the Pharaoh & said, I remember my faults this day. Pharaoh was [angry] with his servants & put me in [custody] in the captain of the guard's [prison] house, both me & the chief baker. |
We both [had] a dream in one night, he & I. And there was a young Hebrew man with us, a servant to the captain of the guard & we told him & he interpreted our dreams to [each of] us. And it came to pass, that [Pharaoh] restored me to my [position] & hanged [the chief baker, as Joseph accurately interpreted.] |
Then, Pharaoh sent [for] Joseph & they brought him [quickly] out of the dungeon & shaved him & changed his [clothing] & [he went] to [the] Pharaoh. Pharaoh [told] Joseph, I [had] a dream & there [are] none [who] can interpret it. I have heard [it said of] you, that you can understand a dream to interpret it. Joseph [said,] It’s not [by] me, but God will give Pharaoh an answer of peace. |
Pharaoh [told] Joseph, In my dream, I stood on the bank of the river & 7 [healthy, fat cows] came out of the river & fed in the meadow & 7 [thin, scrawny cows] [worse than I had] ever seen] in all the land of Egypt & [they ate] up the first 7 [healthy, fat cows] & I [woke up]. |
And I saw in my [other] dream, 7 ears of [plump, good] corn came up on 1 stalk & then 7 thin ears [withered] by the east wind [sprang] up after them & devoured the 7 [plump, good] ears [of corn.] And I told this to the magicians, but [no one,] could [explain the dreams] to me. |
And Joseph [told the] Pharaoh, The dreams [are] one. God has shown [the] Pharaoh what [God] is about to do. The 7 good [healthy cows] & the 7 good ears [of corn] are 7 years [of plenty.] The 7 [thin, scrawny cows] & the 7 empty, [withered] ears [of corn blighted] by the east wind [are] 7 years of [severe] famine. |
This thing [that] I have spoken to Pharaoh, [is] what God is about to do & He shows [it] to Pharaoh. [Indeed,] 7 years of great plenty [will] come throughout all the land of Egypt, [but] after them 7 years of famine & all the plenty shall be forgotten in the land of Egypt & the [severe] famine shall consume the land. |
And the plenty shall not be known in the land, [because] of that famine following, [because] it shall be very grievous. The dream was [repeated] twice to Pharaoh, [so you knew] this thing is established by God, Who will bring it to pass shortly. Now, let Pharaoh [select a discerning] & wise man to [put] over the land of Egypt. |
Let Pharaoh do this & let [this man] appoint officers over the land to collect 1/5 [of the produce] of the land of Egypt in the 7 [plentiful] years. And let him gather all the food of the good years & [store up the corn under the authority] of Pharaoh & keep the food in the cities. |
And the food shall be [as a reserve] for the 7 years of [severe] famine that shall be in the land of Egypt, [so] that the land [may not] perish [during] the famine. This [advice] was good in the eyes of Pharaoh & all his servants. |
And Pharaoh said to his servants, Can we find [someone like] this, a man in whom the Spirit of God [resides?] [Then,] Pharaoh said to Joseph, [Since] God has shown you all [of] this, there is no one as [discerning] & wise as you are. You shall be over my house & according to your word, all my people shall be ruled. |
I will only be greater in the land of Egypt in [regard to] the throne, than you. And Pharaoh said to Joseph, I have [put] you over all the land of Egypt. And Pharaoh took off his [signet] ring & put it on Joseph’s hand & [clothed him in garments] of fine linen & put a chain of gold [around] his neck. |
[Pharaoh had Joseph] ride in the 2nd chariot [behind the Pharaoh] & they had people cry [out in front of Joseph,] Bow your [knees]. [Pharaoh put Joseph] over all the land of Egypt. And Pharaoh said, I am Pharaoh & no one can lift his hand or foot [to do anything] without you, in all the land of Egypt. |
Pharaoh called [Joseph,] Zaphnath-Paaneah & gave Asenath, the daughter of Potipherah, the priest of On, to Joseph [as a] wife. Joseph was 30 years old when he stood before Pharaoh, king of Egypt. And Joseph went throughout all the land of Egypt, [during] the 7 [plentiful] years of [abundance, where] the earth brought forth by handfuls. |
And [Joseph] gathered up [1/5 of] the food [during] the 7 years & the food from the land [that surrounded them] & laid up the food in every city. Joseph gathered up so much corn [a.k.a. grain,] it was [like] the [sands] of the sea [shore,] until he [stopped counting it, because it was immeasurable]. |
[Joseph’s wife,] Asenath, the daughter of Potipherah, priest of On, [bore him] 2 sons, before the years of famine came. [Joseph's] firstborn [was named] Manasseh: For God, said He, has made me forget all my toil & my father's house. The name of the 2nd [son] was called Ephraim: For God has caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction. |
[Then,] the 7 years of plenty in the land of Egypt ended. The 7 years of [famine] began to come, was in all the lands, [like] Joseph had said, but in all the land of Egypt, there was bread. When all the land of Egypt was [hungry], the people cried to Pharaoh for bread, [but he told] all the Egyptians, Go to Joseph & do [whatever] he says to you. |
The famine was over all the face of the earth & Joseph opened all the storehouses & sold to the Egyptians, [because] the famine had [become severe] in the land of Egypt & [so] all the countries came to Egypt to Joseph to buy corn, because the famine was so [severe] in all lands. |
The Lord God had writing Books of the Bible [in Smaller Chunks] on my heart, for those in our busy world, with [smaller chunks of time]. More posts will be added when completed!
About the Author of the Blogsite, Not the Author of the Bible:
About the Author of the Blogsite, Not the Author of the Bible: I was uncertain of how to accomplish this, mindful of Revelation 22:18-19, which says that nobody is to add to, or to take away from what was written in the Bible. After lots of prayerful contemplation, the Lord had it on my heart that I’m not to change the meaning of what is written in the Bible. He has also shown ways to add to people’s understating of that meaning, without altering the meaning, by putting that info within [brackets]. This is primarily accomplished with the KJV Bible and lots of prayers, but at times, BibleGateway.com, Biblehub.com, NIV Bible, Webster Dictionary, and other internet resources, as needed. About Understanding the Bible:
Understanding the Bible: After reading Isaiah 28:10 many times over the years and not totally understanding it, it recently became apparent to me that the Lord God has this passage as the means for understanding the Bible.
For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little. Isaiah 28:10 KJV.
Being prayerful about this passage, and looking up 'precept' in the Webster's Dictionary, it gave this passage a whole new meaning, once 'commandment' is substituted for 'precept'. Within brackets are additional words the Lord had on my heart to aid in understanding the meaning.
For commandment must be [built up] upon commandment; commandment upon commandment; line upon line, line upon line; [developing understanding] here a little, and there a little.
The Table Format:
The Table Format: I was overwhelmed with how to explain the process for determining if someone had leprosy in Leviticus 13, which seemed very complicated. After praying, "Lord, if this is difficult for me to understand after reading it many times, how can this be explained to others?" The thought the Lord God had on my heart was for me to put it into a vertical chart to visually see the process. This made it much easier for me to follow the progression. After doing so, I prayed, "Lord, how can this be conveyed to readers, so that they can understand this process?" The thought the Lord God had on my heart was to put it within the lines of a table. Being a stiff-necked, stubborn person, as it's often called in the Bible, I prayed, asking the Lord God if He's sure that's really what He wanted me to do? I reluctantly put Leviticus 13 into a table format. When I read this difficult leprosy process within a table format, it suddenly became easier for me to understand. That's because it builds line upon line, as explained in the Understanding the Bible section. Shortly after that, the Lord God had it on my heart, to put all of The Books of the Bible in Smaller Chunks within a table format, to aid in understanding, line upon line.
