The Lord called to Moses & [spoke] to him [from] the tabernacle of the congregation saying, Speak to the children of Israel & say to them, [When,] any [Israelite] man [brings] an offering to the Lord, you shall bring your offering of cattle, even of the herd, or flock, [have] him offer a male without blemish. |
He shall offer it of his [own free will] at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the Lord. He shall put his hand on the head of [animal for] the burnt offering & kill the bull, [sheep, or goat] on the north side of the] altar before the Lord & the priests. |
It will be accepted for him to make atonement for [himself.] The priests, Aaron’s sons, shall bring the blood & sprinkle it [all around] upon the altar that is by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. He shall filet the burnt offering & cut it into pieces. |
The priest, the son of Aaron, shall put fire upon the altar & lay the wood in order upon the fire. The priests shall lay the parts, head, & fat in order upon the wood on the fire, which is upon the altar. But he shall wash the [internal parts] & legs with water. |
The priest shall burn all [these] on the altar, to be a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet [aroma] to the Lord. If his burnt offering [is] of flocks, of sheep, or of goats, for a burnt sacrifice; he shall bring [males] without blemish. And he shall kill it on the [north] side of the altar before the Lord. |
And the priests, Aaron’s sons, shall sprinkle [its] blood upon the altar. He shall cut it into pieces, with [its] head & fat. And if the burnt sacrifice for his offering to the Lord [is] of [birds,] then he shall bring Turtle Doves or young pigeons [without blemish.] The priest shall bring it to the altar & wring off [its] head & [burn] it on the altar. [Its] blood should be wrung out [& drained on] the side of the altar. |
He shall [remove its] crop with [its] feathers & cast it beside the east side of the altar, by the place [for] the ashes. Then he shall [cut] it with [its] wings, but shall not divide it [apart completely.] The priests shall burn it on the altar, upon the wood that is upon the fire. It is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made of fire, a sweet [aroma] to the Lord. |
