The Inheritance of the Tribe of Ephraim |
Joshua 16:1-10 The Book of Joshua [in Smaller Chunks] |
The lot [for the borders] of the children, [a.k.a. people,] of Joseph fell from Jordan, by Jericho, to the water of Jericho on the East, to the wilderness that [goes] up from Jericho throughout Mount Bethel. |
And [the border] [goes] out from Bethel to Luz & [passes] along to the borders of Archi, to Ataroth. And [goes] down to the West of the coast of Japhleti, to [their coastal border goes as far as] the coast of [Lower] Beth Horon & [on] to Gezer & [ends at the Mediterranean Sea.] |
So, Manasseh & Ephraim, the children of Joseph, took their inheritance [of land.] The [boundaries] of the [people] of Ephraim, according to their families, was [this:] even the border of their inheritance on the East side, [went from] Ataroth Addar, to Upper Beth Horon. |
The border went out toward the [Mediterranean Sea] to Michmethah, [a.k.a. Mikmethah, Micmethah, & Michmethath,] on the North side, [& from it curved] eastward [past] Taanath Shiloh to the East to Janohah. |
And [the border] went down from Janohah to Ataroth & [then on] to Naarath, & [reached] to Jericho, & [ended] at [the] Jordan [River.] The border went out from Tappuah [West] to the River Kanah & [ended] at the [Mediterranean Sea.] |
This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children, [a.k.a. people,] of Ephraim, by their families. The [separated] cities & their villages for the [people] of Ephraim, were [within the land] of [Manasseh’s] inheritance. |
They [didn’t drive] out the Canaanites [who] dwelt in Gezer, but the Canaanites [live] among the Ephraimites to this day, [but] serve under tribute, [a.k.a. as forced laborers.] |
