The Inheritance of the Tribe of Ephraim |
Joshua 16:1-10 The Book of Joshua [in Smaller Chunks] |
The lot [for] the children [people] of Joseph fell from Jordan, by Jericho, to the water of Jericho on the east, to the wilderness that goes up from Jericho throughout Mount Bethel. |
[The border] goes from Bethel to Luz & passes to the borders of Archi to Ataroth. [The border] goes down to the west of the coast of Japhleti. [Their coastal border goes as far as] the coast of [Lower] Beth Horon & [on] to Gezer & [ends at the Mediterranean Sea.] |
So, Manasseh & Ephraim, the children of Joseph, took their inheritance [of land.] The [boundaries] of the [people] of Ephraim, according to their families, was [this:] even the border of their inheritance on the east side [went from] Ataroth Addar, to Upper Beth Horon. |
The border went out toward the [Mediterranean Sea] to Michmetha on the north [& from it curved] eastward [past] Taanath Shiloh to the east of Janohah. |
[The border] went down from Janohah to Ataroth & then [on] to Naarath & [reached] to Jericho & ended at [the] Jordan [River.] The border went out from Tappuah [west] to the River Kanah & [ended] at the [Mediterranean Sea.] |
This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children [people] of Ephraim, by their families. The [separated] cities & their villages for the [people] of Ephraim, [were within the land of Manasseh’s] inheritance. |
They [didn’t drive] out the Canaanites [who] dwelt in Gezer, but the Canaanites [live] among the Ephraimites to this day, [but they serve as forced laborers.] |
