1 Chronicles 5:1-26 The First Book of Chronicles in [Smaller Chunks] |
Reuben was the first born of Israel [a.k.a. Jacob,] (for he was the first born, but [since] he defiled his father's bed, his birthright was given to the sons of Joseph, [Israel's] son & the genealogy [isn't recorded according to the original] birthright. |
For Judah [was stronger than] his [brothers] & an [important] ruler came [from Judah,] but the birthright was [given] to Joseph.) The sons of Reuben, the first born of Israel were: Hancoch [a.k.a. Hanok,] Pallu, Hezron & Carmi [a.k.a. Karmi.] |
[Joel's descendants:] Shemaiah [was Joel's] son. Gog [was Shemaiah's] son. Shimei [was Gog's] son. Micah [was Shimei's] son. Reaiah [a.k.a. Reaiah was Micah's] son. Baal [was Reaiah's] son. Beerah [was Baal's] son, whom Tilgath Pilneser, [Assyria's] king carried away captive. |
He was the prince [a.k.a. leader or chief] of the Reubenites. [These were] his [brothers] by their families, when the genealogy of [the] generations [of their family] was [recorded.] [These brothers] were the chief: Jiel & Zechariah. |
And Bela the son of Azaz. [Azaz] was the son of Shema. [Shema] was the son of Joel, who [lived in east in] the wilderness [that goes to] the Euphrates River, because their [livestock had] multiplied in the land of Gilead. |
[During] the days Saul [ruled,] they made war with the Hagarites [a.k.a. Hagrites,] who [were defeated by them] & they [lived] in their tents [through] all the land east of Gilead. |
The children [family] of Gad [lived] next to them, in the land of Bashan, [as far as] Salcah [a.k.a. Salekah.] Joel [was] the chief in Bashan; Shapham, the next [in charge;] Jaanai [a.k.a. Janai] & Shaphat. |
The [relatives] of their [forefathers & families] were: Michael, Meshullam, Sheba, Jorai, Jachan [a.k.a. Jakan,] Ziza [a.ka. Zia,] & Heber [a.k.a. Eber,] 7. These are the children of Abihail. [Abihail was] the son of Huri. |
[Huri was] the son of Jaroah. [Jaroah was] the son of Gilead. [Gilead was] the son of Michael. [Michael was] the son of Jeshishai. [Jeshishai was] the son of Jahdo. [Jahdo was] the son of Buz. [Buz was] the son of Ahi. |
[Ahi was] the son of Abdiel. [Abdiel was] the son of Guni, the chief of the [family] of their fathers. The [Gadites lived] in Gilead in Bashan [in its] towns & in the suburbs of Sharon upon their borders. |
All these were [recorded] by genealogies [during] the days of Jotham, [Judah's] king & [during] the days of Jeroboam, [Israel's] king. [Reuben's] sons, the Gatites & 1/2 [of] the tribe [family] of Mannasseh, [with] 44,760 valiant men, trained & skillful in war & able to [carry a shield,] sword & [could] shoot with [a] bow. |
[These] went to war [against] the Hagarites, Jetur, Nephish [a.ka. Naphish] & Nodab. [God helped them fight these] & delivered the Hagarites & all [who] were with him, into their [hands]. |
For they cried [out] to God in battle & He [answered their prayers,] because they put their trust in [God.] They [seized] the Hararites' livestock: 50,000 camels, 250,000 sheep, 2,000 donkeys & 100,000 men [captive.] |
For many there were slain, because the war was of God. They [lived] in their homes [instead of them] until the captivity. The [family] of ½ tribe of Manasseh, [grew large & lived] in the land, from Bashan to Baal Hermon [all the way to] Senir [a.k.a. Mount Hermon]. |
These were of their [forefather's family were:] Epher, Ishi, Eliel, Azriel, Jermiah, Hoadiah & Jahdiel, famous & mighty men of valor & heads of their [forefather's families.] |
They [sinned] against the [Lord] God of their [forefathers] & [were like unfaithful harlots chasing after the false] gods of the land, whom the [the Lord] God destroyed before them. |
The God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul [Assyria's] king, [who took the:] Reubenites, Gadites & ½ the tribe of Manasseh [away captive.] [Pul] brought them to Halah, Habor, Hara & [they are there] to the Gozan River, to this day. |
