Ecclesiastes 2:1-26            The Book of Ecclesiastes [in Smaller Chunks]

I said [within] my heart, Go [ahead] now, I will [test] you with [happiness.] Therefore, enjoy pleasure, & [see,] [that] this is also vanity. [Proverbs 1:1 The Proverbs of Solomon, the son of David, [Israel's] king.]

I said [about] laughter, It is [madness,] & of [happiness,] What [good] [does] it [do?] I [searched within my] heart, to [treat] myself to wine, yet acquainting, [a.k.a. making familiar, my] heart with wisdom, & [trying] to [grasp] folly, [a.k.a. lack of good judgment, until] I might see what was good that the sons of men should do, all the days of their life, under heaven. [Ecclesiastes 3:12-13 I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, & to do good in his life. And also that every man should eat, drink, & enjoy the good of all his [labor, a.k.a. Work. It is the gift [from] God.]

I made [myself] great works: I [built myself] houses; & I planted [myself:] vineyards, gardens, orchards & all [kinds] of [fruit] trees. I made [myself] pools of water, to [irrigate] the [woods] that [produce] trees. [2 Chronicles 8:1-6 And it [happened after] 20 years, [in which] Solomon had built the [Lord's] house, & his own house, that Solomon [rebuilt] the cities that Huram, [a.k.a. Hiram,] had restored to Solomon, & caused the children, [a.k.a. people,] of Israel to dwell, [a.k.a. live,] there. And Solomon went to Hamath Zobah, & [seized] it. And he built Tadmor in the wilderness, & all the [storage] cities, that [Solomon] built in Hamath. Also, [Solomon] built: Upper Beth Hornon; & [Lower] Beth Horon, fenced cities, with: walls, gates, & bars [for the gates.] And [also built:] Baalath, & all the [storage] cities that Solomon had, & all the: chariot cities; cities [for] the horsemen; & all that Solomon desired to build in: Jerusalem; Lebanon; & throughout all the land of his [kingdom.]

I got [myself] servants, maidens, & [even] had servants born in my house. I also had [many] possessions of: [large] & small cattle, [a.k.a. livestock,] above all that were in Jerusalem, before me.

I also gathered [myself:] silver & gold, & [special treasures from the] kings, & [from] the provinces.

I [got myself: [male & female] singers, & musical instruments of all sorts, [that delight] the sons of men. So, I was great, [a.k.a. famous,] & increased more than all [who] were in Jerusalem before me. My wisdom also remained [within] me.

I [didn't keep anything from what my] eyes desired. I [didn't withhold] my heart from any joy. For my heart rejoiced in all my [labor,] & this was my portion [rewarded for] all my [labor.]

Then, I looked on all the works that my hands had [engaged in,] & on the [work,] that I had [labored] to do; & [saw] all was vanity, & [troubling,] [like trying to grab the wind,] & there was no [benefit] under the sun. And I turned myself to [observe:] wisdom, madness & folly, [a.k.a. lack of good judgment.]

For what can the man do, [who comes] after the king? [Only] that, which [has] already been done. Then, I saw that: wisdom [surpasses] folly, [like] light far [surpasses] darkness. The wise man's eyes are in his head, but the fool [walks, a.k.a. follows] in darkness. And I, myself, also [realized,] that one event [happens] to them all.

[Ecclesiastes 9:2-3 All things [happen] alike to all. There is one event to the: righteous, wicked, good, the clean, the unclean, to him, [who sacrifices,] & to him, [who doesn't sacrifice.]

As is [to] the good, [also] is [to] the sinner & [to] he, [who swears] [an oath,] [like] he, [who fears] [taking] an oath. This is an evil among all things that are done under the sun, that there is one event to all. [Yes,] the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, & madness is in their [hearts,] while they live, & after that, they go to the dead.]

Then, I said [within] my heart, [Like] it [happens] to the fool, [also] it [happens] even to me. Then, why was I more wise? Then, I said [within] my heart, that this also is vanity.

For there is no more [memory] forever of the wise than of the fool. [Since what] is now, shall all be forgotten in the days to come. And how [does] the wise man [die?] [Just] [like] the fool. [Ecclesiastes 9:5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead [don't] know anything. Neither [do] have a reward anymore. For the memory of them is forgotten.]

Therefore, I hated life; because the work that is [done] under the sun is grievous to me. For all is vanity, & [troubling,] [like trying to grab the wind.] [Yes,] I hated all my [work] that I had [engaged in] under the sun, because I should leave it to the man, [who] shall be after me.

And who [knows] whether he shall be a wise man or a fool? [Still,] he shall rule over all my [work, in which] I have [labored] [for,] & [in which,] I have [demonstrated] myself [as] wise under the sun. This is also vanity.

Therefore, I went [around & caused] my heart to despair [about] all the l[abor, a.k.a. work, with] which I have [engaged in] under the sun. For there is a man, whose [labor] is [done] in wisdom, knowledge, & equity, [a.k.a. fairness;] [but] he shall yet leave his portion to a man, [who hasn't worked.] This is also vanity, & a great evil. [Job 27:16-17 [Although] he [heaps] up silver [like] the dust, & [prepares garments, like] the [abundant] clay; he may prepare it, but the just, [a.k.a. honest,] shall put it on, & the innocent shall divide the silver.]

For what [does] a man [have from] all his [labor,] & his [troubled] heart [with which,] he [has labored,] under the sun? For all his days are sorrows, & his [tribulation,] grief. [Yes,] his heart [doesn't take] rest in the night. This is also vanity.

There is nothing better that a man should [do,] than: eat, drink, & make his soul enjoy the good [benefits of] his [labor.] I also saw this, and that, it was from the hand of God. [Luke 12:19-21 And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have [many] goods [stored] up for many years: take [it] [easy,] & eat, drink, & be merry.

But God said to him, You fool. This night your soul, [a.k.a. life,] shall be required [from] you. Then, whose shall those things be, [that] you [have] provided? So, is he, [who stores] up treasure for himself, & isn't rich toward God.]

For who can eat, or [up until now,] who else can [hurry] [to do so,] more than I? For God [gives] to a man, [what] is good in His sight: wisdom, knowledge, & joy. But He [gives troubles] to the sinner, to gather, & to heap up, [so] that He may give to him, [what] is good before God. This, also is vanity, & [troubling,] [like trying to grab the wind.]

[Revelation 3:19-22 As many as I love, I [reprimand & chastise.] Therefore, be zealous, & repent. [Watch,] I stand at the door, & knock: & if any man [hears] My voice, & [opens] the door, I will come in to him, & will [dine] with him, & he with Me.

I will grant to him [who overcomes,] to sit with Me [on] My throne, even [like] I also overcame, & Am [sitting] down with My Father [on] His throne. He, [who has] an ear, let him hear what the [Holy] Spirit [says] to the churches.]
