Ephraim's Drunkards Shall be Trampled Underfoot

Isaiah 28:1-29                           The Book of Isaiah [in Smaller Chunks]

Woe, [a.k.a. Distress,] to the drunkards of Ephraim, whose glorious beauty is a crown of pride, & a fading flower, on the head of the fat, [a.k.a. rich,] valleys of [those who] are overcome [by] wine! [Look,] the Lord shall cast down to the earth, the hand [of] a mighty, strong one, [who] [is] [like] a [hailstorm,] & a [destructive hurricane, like] a flood of mighty, overflowing waters. [Isaiah 29:6 You [shall] be visited, [a.k.a. punished, by] the Lord of Hosts with: thunder; [an] earthquake; [loud] noise; [a] storm; & tempest, [a.k.a. hailstorm;] & the flame of devouring fire.]

The drunkards of Ephraim, the crown of pride, shall be [trampled underfoot.] And the glorious beauty, on the head of the [rich] valley, shall be a fading flower, & [like] the [first] fruit before summer, when [he looks, & sees] it, & he [gobble] it up, while it's [still] in his hand.

[On] that day, the Lord of Hosts shall be for a crown of glory, & a [garland] of beauty, to the [remaining] of His people, & for a spirit of judgment, [a.k.a. justice,] to him, who] sits in judgment. [Isaiah 11:1-4 *And a Rod shall come forth there, out of the stem of Jesse, & a Branch shall grow out of his roots, [a.k.a. lineage.] *And the [Holy] Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, the spirit of: wisdom, & understanding; the spirit of: counsel, & [strength;] the spirit of: knowledge, & the fear, [a.k.a. respect,] of the Lord, & shall make Him of [immediate] understanding in the fear, [a.k.a. respect,] of the Lord. And He shall not judge, [according] [to what] His eyes [see,] & neither [chastise according] [to what] His ears [hear.] But He shall judge the poor with Righteousness, & will [repay] the meek, [a.k.a. humble,] of the earth with equity. And He shall [strike] the earth with the rod of His mouth, & He shall slay the wicked with the breath of His lips.]

And for strength to [those who return] the [dispute] [back] to the gate. [Proverbs 31:23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sits among the elders of the land.]

But also they have erred through wine, & strong drink, & [have gone astray.] The priest, & the prophet have erred through strong drink, & they are swallowed up [by] wine. They [have gone astray] through strong drink, & they err in [visions,] & stumble in judgment, [a.k.a. justice.] [Micah 3:10-11 They build up Zion with [bloodshed,] & [build up] Jerusalem with [sinfulness.] [It's leaders,] judge for reward, [a.k.a. bribes, its] priests teach for [pay,] & [its] prophets divine for money. Will they [still] lean upon the Lord, & say, Isn't the Lord among us? No evil can come upon us.]

For all [the] tables are full of vomit, & filthiness, so that there is no clean place.  [Proverbs 23:30-32 [Those who stay] [too] long at wine, & [those who] go to seek mixed [drinks.] [Don’t] you look upon the wine when it’s red, when it [sparkles] in the cup, when it [moves] itself [around.] At the [end,] it [bites] like a [snake,] & [stings] like a [cobra.]

Whom shall He teach knowledge? [Jeremiah 8:9 The wise men are: ashamed, [captured,] & [discouraged.] [Look,] they have rejected the Word of the Lord. What wisdom is in them?]

And whom shall He make [able] to understand doctrine? [Mark 7:6-7 [Jesus] answered & said to them, [Elijah has] prophesied [correctly about] you, hypocrites, [like] it is written [in the Scriptures,] This people [honor] Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. [However,] they worship Me in vain, teaching the commandments of men, for doctrines.]

[Those who] are: weaned from the milk, & drawn from the breasts. [1 Peter 2:2 [Like] newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of [God's] Word, [so] that you may grow [by it.]

For precept, [a.k.a. commandment,] must be upon [commandment;] [commandment,] upon [commandment;] line upon line; line upon line; [to develop understanding,] here a little, & there a little.

For with stammering lips & another tongue He will speak to this people.             [1 Corinthians 14:21 In the Law it is written, I will speak to this people with men of other tongues & other lips. And [still, after] all that, they won’t hear Me, [says] the Lord.]

To whom He said, This is the rest [with which] you may cause the [tired] to rest. And this is [for] refreshing. [Still,] they wouldn't hear, [a.k.a. listen.] [Matthew 13:15 For this people's heart [has grown coarse,] & their ears are [hard] of hearing, & they have closed their eyes, lest at any time they should see with their eyes, & hear with their ears, & should understand with their heart, & should be converted, & I should heal them.]

But [instead,] the Word of the Lord was to them: precept, [a.k.a. commandment,] upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line; line upon line; here a little, & there a little; [so] that they might go, & fall backward, & be [broken, snared, & taken.

[Isaiah 29:13 *[For this reason,] the Lord said, [Since,] this people draw near to Me with their mouth, & [honor] Me with their lips, but have removed their heart far from Me, & their fear, [a.k.a. respect,] toward Me is taught by the [commandments] of men.]

[For this reason,] hear the Word of the Lord, you scornful men, [a.k.a. who look down on others,] & rule this people, [who are] in Jerusalem. Because you have said, We have made a covenant, [a.k.a. contract,] with death, & we are [in] agreement with hell.

When the overflowing [affliction] shall pass through, it shall not come to us: for we have made lies our refuge, & we have [hidden] ourselves under [falsehoods.] [Jeremiah 23:31-32 The Lord [says, Look,] I Am against the prophets [who] use their tongues & say, [God says.] [See,] I Am against [those, who] prophesy false dreams, & tell them, & cause My people to err, [a.k.a. go astray,] by their lies, & by their [indifference.] [Still,] I [didn't send] them, nor [command] them. Therefore, they shall not at all, [benefit] this people, [says] the Lord.]

*Therefore, the Lord God [says this, Watch,] I lay a stone foundation in Zion. A [tested] stone, a precious cornerstone, [for] [a secure] foundation, & he, [who believes] shall not [hurry.]

[Luke 20:17-19 *And [Jesus saw] them, & said, Then, this is what was written [in the Scriptures:] The stone which the builders rejected, [has] the same become the head of the corner? *[Whoever] shall fall upon that stone shall be broken, but on [whomever] it shall fall, it will grind him to powder. And the same hour, the chief priests, & the scribes sought to [seize Jesus;] & they feared the people. For they [realized] that He had spoken this parable against them.]

I will also lay judgment, [a.k.a. justice,] to the [measuring] line, & righteousness to the plummet, [a.k.a. plumb-line.] And hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, & the waters shall overflow the hiding place. [Zechariah 7:9-10 The Lord of Hosts [spoke this,] saying, [Carry out,] true judgment, [a.k.a. justice,] & every man [demonstrate] mercy, & [compassion] to his brother. And [don't] oppress: the widow, the fatherless, the stranger, [a.k.a. foreigner,] nor the poor. And let none of you [plot] evil in your heart, against his brother.]

And your covenant, [a.k.a. contract,] with death shall be [overturned,] & your agreement with hell shall not stand, [a.k.a. shall be made ineffective.] [1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, & be vigilant; because your [enemy] the devil, [is] [like] a roaring lion, [walking around,] seeking whom he may devour.]

When the overflowing [affliction] shall pass through, then you shall be [trampled] down by it. [2 Kings 7:18-20 And it [happened like] the man of God had spoken to the king, saying, 2 measures of barley [will sell] for a shekel, & 1 measure of fine flour for a shekel, shall [happen] tomorrow about this time in the gate of Samaria.

And the lord [in charge of the gate,] answered the man of God, & said, Now, [look,] if the Lord should make windows in heaven, might such a thing [like this] be? And [the man of God,] said, [Look,] you [shall] see it with your [own] eyes, but [you] shall not eat [of it.] And so it [happened] to him: for the people [trampled] upon him in the gate, & he died.]

From the time that [the affliction] [goes out,] it [shall continue to] take you: [when] it [passes] over, morning [by] morning, [both] by day, & by night. And only [trying] to understand the report, shall be a [troubling.]

For the bed is shorter than a man can stretch himself [out] on it. And the covering, [is] narrower than he can wrap himself in it. For the Lord shall rise up [like] in Mount Perazim. He shall be [angry like] in the Valley of Gibeon, [so] that He may do His work, [a.k.a. miracles.] His strange work, & His strange [acts,] & [have it happen.]

[Numbers 16:29-32 And if these men die the [normal] death of all men, or if they [are] visited, [a.k.a. punished, according to] the punishment of all men, then the Lord [hasn't] sent me. But if the Lord [makes] a new thing, & the earth [opens its] mouth, & [swallows] them up, with all that [belongs] to them, & they go down [alive] into the pit, then you shall understand that these men have provoked the Lord.

And as he [finished] speaking all these words, it [happened,] that the ground that was under them [split open.] And the earth opened [its] mouth, & swallowed them up, & their houses, & all the men [who pertained to] Korah, & all their goods.]

Therefore, [don't] be mockers now, lest your [shackles are] made strong; for I have heard from the Lord God of Hosts, a [destruction,] [is] even determined upon the whole earth. [Lean your] ear, & hear my voice, & [pay attention,] & hear [what] [I say.]

[Does] the plowman plow all day [in order] to sow [seeds?] [Does] he open [up the rows,] & break [up] the [dirt] clods of his ground? When he [has] made [level its surface,] doesn't he [throw out dill seed,] & scatter the cumin, & [plant] the [main] wheat, & the [set aside] barley & rye [seeds] in their place?

For his God [instructs,] & [teaches] him: discretion, [a.k.a. making responsible choices.] For the [dill seeds] are not threshed with a threshing [machine,] neither is a [wheeled] cart [rolled around] upon the cumin, but the [dill seeds] are beaten out with a [walking stick,] & the cumin with a rod.

He won't ever [thresh] bruised corn, [a.k.a, grain, for] bread, nor break it with the cart wheel, nor [crush] it with his horsemen, [because it must be ground.] This, [knowledge,] also [comes] from the Lord of Hosts, [Who] is wonderful in [advice,] & excellent in [work.] [Isaiah 9:6-7 *For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given. And the government shall be upon His shoulder. And His Name shall be called: Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. *There shall be no end of the increase of His government, & peace, upon the throne of David, & upon His Kingdom. To [put] it [in] order, & to establish it with judgment & with justice, from [now on,] & forever & ever. The zeal of the Lord of Hosts will [accomplish] this.]
