The Greatest of These is Charity & Love |
1 Corinthians 13:1-13 Paul's 1st Epistle to the Corinthians [in Smaller Chunks] |
[Although] I speak with the tongues, [a.k.a. languages,] of men, & Angels, & haven't charity, [a.k.a. love,] I [have] become [like] [a] sounding brass [gong,] or a tinkling cymbal. |
And though I have the gift of prophecy, & understand all mysteries, & all knowledge & though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, & [I] [don't] have charity, I'm nothing. |
And though: I bestow, [a.k.a. present,] all my goods, [a.k.a. possessions,] [in order] to feed the poor, & I give my body to be burned, & haven't charity, it [doesn't benefit] me. |
Charity [suffers long, a.k.a. is patient;] & is kind. Charity [doesn't envy.] Charity [doesn't magnify] itself, & isn't puffed up [& prideful.] [Charity] [doesn't] behave [rudely,] & [doesn't seek] its own [desires,] & isn't easily provoked, & [doesn't think] [what is:] evil. |
[Charity] [doesn't rejoice] in iniquity, [a.k.a. sinfulness;] but [rejoices] in the truth; & [bears, a.k.a. puts up with,] all things; [believes] all things; [hopes] [in] all things; & [endures] all things. [Romans 15:1-2 Then, we [who] are strong ought to bear, [a.k.a. carry,] the infirmities of the weak, & to not please ourselves. Let everyone of us please his neighbor, [for] edification, [a.k.a. encouragement,] for his [benefit.] |
Charity never [fails;] but whether there [are] prophecies, they shall fail. Whether there [are] tongues, [a.k.a. believers speaking in different languages,] they shall cease. Whether there [is] knowledge, it shall vanish away. |
For we know in part, [a.k.a. a portion,] & we prophesy [a portion.] But when that [Who] is perfect [comes,] then that which is [a portion] shall be done away, [a.k.a. no longer needed.] |
When I was a child, I [spoke like] a child. I understood [like] a child, & I thought [like] a child. But when I became a man, I put away childish things. For we see [dimly] through a [dark] glass, [a.k.a. window;] but then, [we will be] face to face. |
I know [a] part now; but then I shall know, even [like] I am also known. And now abides, [a.k.a. remains,] these 3: faith; hope; & charity; but the greatest of these is charity, [a.k.a. love.] |
[Matthew 22:36-40 Then, one of them, [who] was a lawyer, asked [Jesus] a question, tempting, [a.k.a. testing,] Him, saying, Master, [a.k.a. Teacher,] which is the [greatest] commandment in the Law? Jesus said to him, You [shall] love the Lord your God with all your heart, & with all your soul, & with all your mind. This is the first, & [greatest] commandment. And the second is [similar] to it, You [shall] love your neighbor as yourself. All the [Laws], & the [messages of the] prophets [hangs on, a.k.a. is based on,] these two commandments.] |
