Tips on Pride, Justice & Truth |
Proverbs 21:1-31 Proverbs [in Smaller Chunks] |
The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, [like] the rivers of water: [God] turns it [wherever] He [wishes.] Every way of man is right in his own eyes: but the Lord [contemplates] the hearts. |
[Luke 16:15 And [Jesus] said to them, You are [those who] justify yourselves before men: but God knows Your hearts: for [what] is highly [respected] among men is [an] abomination in the sight ofGod.] |
To do justice & judgment is more acceptable to the Lord than [sacrifices.] Sin is [within] an [arrogant] look & a proud heart & the plowing [down] of the wicked. [Proverbs 6:16-17 These things the Lord does hate: [yes,] 7 are an abomination to Him: A proud look, a lying tongue & hands that shed innocent blood.] |
The [plans] of the [industrious] only [leads] to [abundance,] but everyone [who] is hasty only [leads] to want. Getting treasures by a lying tongue is [worthless] vanity tossed [back & forth] by [those who] seek death. |
The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them: because they refuse to do [justice.] The [path] of man is [over confident] & [inexperienced,] but as for the pure, his work is [righteous.] |
It is better to [live] in a corner of the housetop, than to [live] in a [big] house with a [quarreling] woman. The soul of the wicked desires evil: & his neighbor finds no favor in his eyes. |
When [someone, who thinks he’s better than others] is punished, the simple [minded are] made wise & when the wise [are] instructed, he receives knowledge. The righteous man wisely considers the house of the wicked: but God overthrows the wicked, [because of] their wickedness. |
[Whoever] stops his ears [from hearing] the cry of the poor, shall also cry [out] himself, but shall not be heard. A gift in secret [soothes] anger & a [bribe in the chest pocket] [leads to] strong [fury.] |
It is joy to the [righteous] to do [justice:] but destruction shall be [for those, who work sinfully.] The man [who goes astray from] the [path] of understanding, shall remain in the congregation of the dead. |
He [who] loves pleasure, shall be a poor man & he [who] loves wine & oil, shall not be rich. The wicked & the [unfaithful] shall be a ransom for the righteous & the [honest.] |
It is better to [live] in the wilderness, than with a [quarreling] & angry woman. In the house of the wise, there is treasure to be desired & oil; but a foolish man spends it up. |
He, [who follows] after righteousness & mercy [finds] life, righteousness & honor. A wise man [climbs the walls of] the city of the mighty & [throws] down the confidence of [its] strength there. [Ecclesiastes 7:19 Wisdom strengthens the wise more than 10 mighty men, [who] are in the city.] |
[Whoever controls] his mouth & tongue [saves] his soul from [trouble.] [He,] who [acts in arrogant prideful anger] his name is, Proud & [arrogant person who looks down on others.] |
The desire of the [lazy] kills him: for he refuses to [work] with his hands. He greedily [envies] all day long: but the righteous give & [don’t hold back.] [Proverbs 22:9 He [who] has a [generous] eye shall be blessed; for he gives his bread to the poor.] |
The sacrifice of the wicked is [an] abomination: how much more when he [brings his sacrifice] with a wicked mind? A false witness shall perish: but the man, [who hears it, repeats it] constantly. |
A wicked man hardens his face: but the upright, [establishes] his [path.] There is no wisdom, understanding, nor counsel [to fight] against the Lord. The horse is prepared [for] the day of battle: but [Salvation] is [from] the Lord. |
[Jeremiah 3:23 Truly in vain is Salvation hoped for from the hills & [many] mountains. Truly is the Salvation of Israel in the Lord our God.] |
