A good name [a.k.a. reputation] is to be chosen, rather than great riches & loving [regard,] rather than silver or gold. The rich & poor [have this in common:] the Lord is the Maker of them all. |
A [cautious] man foresees evil & hides himself: but the simple [minded continue to go] on & are punished. By humility & the fear [respect] of the Lord [God] are: riches, honor & life. |
Thorns & [traps] are in the [road] of the [deceitful:] he, [who guards] his soul shall be far from them. Train up a child in the way he should go & he won’t depart from it when he is old. The rich rule over the poor & the borrower is [the] servant to the lender. |
[James 2:5-6 [Pay attention,] my beloved brethren, Hasn’t God chosen the poor of this world, rich in faith & heirs of the Kingdom, which [the Lord God] promised to [those who] love Him? But you have despised the poor. Don’t rich men oppress you & [lead] you before the judgment seats?] |
He [who plants] iniquity shall [harvest trouble] & the rod of his anger shall fail [to save him.] He, [who] has a [generous] eye, shall be blessed: for he gives of his bread to the poor. |
[Throw] out [he, who thinks he is better than others] & the [dispute] shall go out & [yes] the [quarrel & ridicule] shall [stop.] He [who] loves pureness of heart, the king shall be his friend, [because of] the grace of his lips. |
The [Lord’] eyes preserve knowledge & He overthrows the words of the [faithless.] The [lazy] man says, [I can’t work, because:] there is a lion [outside,] I shall be [killed] in the streets. |
The mouth of a [seductress] is a deep pit: he, [who is loathed by] the Lord shall fall [into the pit.] Foolishness is [tied within] the heart of a child; but the rod [used for] correction shall drive [foolishness] far from him. |
He [who oppresses] the poor, to increase his [wealth] & he [who gives] to the rich, shall surely come to [poverty.] [Lean] down your ear & hear the words of the wise & apply your heart to My knowledge. |
For it is a pleasant thing if You keep [My Laws] within you; they shall [be appropriate for] your lips. [So] that your trust may be in the Lord, I have made [this] known to you this day, even to you. |
Haven’t I written excellent things [as advice] & knowledge to you [so] that I might make you know the certainty of the Words of Truth, [so] that you might answer the Words of Truth to [those who] send [for] you? |

[Don’t] rob the poor, because he is poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate: for the Lord [God] will plead their [case] & will [destroy] the soul of those [who plundered] them. |
[Don’t] make [a friendship] with an angry man & you [shouldn’t] go with a furious man: lest you learn his ways & [they ensnare] your soul. [Don’t] be [someone who shakes hands in a deal,] or of [those who are guarantors] for debts. |
If you have nothing [with which] to pay, why should he take away your bed from under you? [Don’t] remove the ancient [boundary] landmark, [that] your [forefathers] have [put.] [Do you see] a man [who puts effort into] his business? He shall stand before kings & he shall not stand before mean men. |
