Psalm 136:1-26            Book# 5 of Psalms [in Smaller Chunks]

O give thanks to the Lord; for He is good. For His mercy [endures] forever. O give thanks to the God of gods: for His mercy [endures] forever.

[1 Chronicles 16:25-26 For great is the Lord, & greatly to be praised. He is also to be feared, [a.k.a. respected,] above all gods. For all the gods of the people are idols, but the Lord made the heavens.]

O give thanks to the Lord of lords: for His mercy [endures] forever. To Him, Who alone [does] great wonders: [a.k.a. miracles:] for His mercy [endures] forever.  [Job 9:8-10 [Who] alone [spreads] out the heavens, & [walks] upon the waves of the sea. [Who makes:] Arcturus, Orion, & Pleiades, & the [constellations] of the South. [Who does] great things, [beyond] finding out. [Yes,] & wonders without number.]

To Him, [Who] by wisdom made the heavens: for His mercy [endures] forever. [Jeremiah 51:15 He [has] made the earth by His power, & He [has] established the world by His wisdom, & [has] stretched out the heaven by His understanding.]

To Him, [Who] stretched out the earth above the waters: for His mercy [endures] forever.  [Genesis 1:6-10 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, & let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament, & divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament, & it was so. And God called the firmament: Heaven. And the evening & the morning were the second day. And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together to one place, & let the dry land appear; & it was so. And God called the dry land: Earth; & the gathering together of the waters, He called: Seas, & God saw that it was good.]

To Him, [Who] made great lights: for His mercy [endures] forever. The sun to rule by day: for His mercy [endures] forever. The moon & the stars to rule by night: for His mercy [endures] forever.

[Genesis 1:14-18 And God said, Let there be light in the firmament of the heaven, to divide the day from the night. And let them be for: signs, & seasons, & for days. And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven, to give light upon the earth; & it was so.

And God made 2 [enormous] lights; the [larger] light to rule the day, & the lesser light to rule the night. He also made the stars. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, & to rule over the day, & over the night. And to divide the light from the darkness; & God saw that it was good.]

To Him, [Who struck] their firstborn in Egypt: for His mercy [endures] forever. And brought out Israel from among them: for His mercy [endures] forever.

[Exodus 12:29-31 And it [happened,] at midnight, the Lord [struck] all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh, [who] sat on his throne, to the firstborn of the captive, [who were] in the dungeon, & all the firstborn of cattle, [a.k.a. livestock.] And Pharaoh rose up in the night: he & all his servants, & all the Egyptians.

And there was a great [out] cry in Egypt: for there was not a house where there wasn't one dead. And [Pharaoh] called for Moses & Aaron [at] night, & said, Rise up & get [yourselves out] from among my people. Both you & the children, [a.k.a. people,] of Israel, go, & serve the Lord, [like] you have said.]

With a strong hand, & with [an outstretched] arm: for His mercy [endures] forever. To Him, [Who] divided the Red Sea into parts: for His mercy [endures] forever. And made Israel to pass through the midst of it: for His mercy [endures] forever. [Exodus 14:21-22 And Moses stretched out his hand over the [Red] Sea, & the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong East wind all that night, & made the sea dry land, & the waters were divided. And the children, [a.k.a. people,] of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground. And the waters were a wall to them on their right hand, & on their left.]

But overthrew Pharaoh, & his [army] in the Red Sea: for His mercy [endures] forever. [Exodus 14:26-27 And the Lord said to Moses, Stretch out your hand over the sea, [so] that the waters may [return] again upon the: Egyptians, their chariots, & their horsemen. And Moses stretched [out] his hand over the sea, & the sea returned to [its] strength when the morning appeared. And the Egyptians fled against it, & the Lord overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.]

To Him, [Who] led His people through the wilderness: for His mercy [endures] forever. [Exodus 13:18 But God led the people [around] through the [road] of the wilderness [by] the Red Sea. And the children, [a.k.a. people,] of Israel, went up [in rows] out of the land of Egypt.]

To Him, [Who killed] great kings: for His mercy [endures] forever.  [Joshua 24:11-13 And you went over [the] Jordan [River,] & came to Jericho. And the men of Jericho fought against you, the: Amorites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hittites, Girgashites, Hivites, & the Jebusites. And I delivered them into your hand. And I sent the hornet before you [came,] which [drove] them out from before you, even the 2 kings of the Amorites; but not with your sword, nor your bow. And I have given you a land for which you didn't [labor,] & cities [that] you [didn't build,] & you [live] in them, & you eat [from:] the vineyards, & [olive groves that] you [didn't plant.]

And [killed] famous kings: for His mercy [endures] forever: Sihon, the [Amorites'] king: for His mercy [endures] forever.  [Numbers 21:23-25 And Sihon wouldn't [allow] Israel to pass through his border; but Sihon gathered all his people together, & went out into the wilderness against Israel. And [Sihon] came to Jahaz, & fought against Israel. And Israel [struck] them with the edge of the sword, & possessed his land from Arnon to Jabbok, even [all the way] to the children, [a.k.a. people,] of Arnon. For the border of the [people] of Arnon was strong. And Israel [captured] all these cities. And Israel dwelt in all the cities of the Amorites, in Hesbon, & in all [its] villages.]

And Og, the king of Bashan: for His mercy [endures] forever. And gave their land for [a] heritage, [a.k.a. inheritance:] for His mercy [endures] forever. Even an [inheritance] to Israel, His servant: for His mercy [endures] forever.  [Numbers 21:33-35 And [the Israelites] turned, & went up by the [road] of Bashan, & Og, [Bashan's] king, & all his people went out against them, to the battle at Edrei. And the Lord said to Moses, [Don't] fear him: for I have delivered him, all his people, & all his land, into your hand. And you [shall] do to him, [like] you [did] to Sihon, the [Amorite's] king, [who] dwelt in Hesbon. So, they [attacked Og,] his sons, & all his people, until there [were] none left [to] him alive. And [the Israelites] possessed [Og's] land.]

Who remembered us in our [lowly position:] for His mercy [endures] forever. [Psalm 113:7 He [raises] up the poor out of the dust, [a.k.a. dirt,] & [lifts] the needy out of the [garbage heap.]

And [has] redeemed us from our enemies: for His mercy [endures] forever.  [1 Peter 1:18-20 [Since,] we know that we weren't redeemed with corruptible things [like] silver & gold, & from vain [conversations] received by tradition from your [forefathers,] But [but were redeemed] with the precious blood of Christ, [like] a lamb without blemish, & without spot, [a.k.a. without sin.] Who [truly,] was [previously ordained, a.k.a. pre-appointed,] before the foundation, [a.k.a. creation,] of the world, but was [revealed] for you, in these last times.]

Who [gives] food to all flesh: for His mercy [endures] forever. [Matthew 6:26 [Look,] the [birds] of the air: for they [don't] sow, [a.k.a. plant,] & neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Yet your heavenly Father [feeds] them. Aren't you much better, [a.k.a. more important,] than they [are?]

O give thanks to the God of heaven: for His mercy [endures] forever.
