The Lord Your God Says, Comfort My  People

Isaiah 40:1-31                               The Book of Isaiah [in Smaller Chunks]

You [who] comfort My people, comfort [yourselves, says] your God. You, [who] speak [pleasantly] to Jerusalem, & cry [out] to her, that her warfare is [ended,] & that her [sinfulness] is pardoned, [because from] the Lord's hand, she [has] received double for all her sins.

[Isaiah 61:7-8 You shall have double for your shame, & for confusion, & they shall rejoice in their portion [of the inheritance of the Promised Land.] Therefore, they shall possess double in their land, & everlasting joy shall be to them.]

*The voice of him, [who cries] [out] in the wilderness, You, prepare the way of the Lord, & make a straight highway in the desert for our God. Every valley shall be [elevated,] & every mountain, & hill shall be made low;& the crooked [places] shall be made straight, & the rough places, [smooth.]

[Luke 3:3-4 And he, [a.k.a. John the Baptist,] came into all the country [around] Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance, for the remission of sins. *As the words of [Isaiah,] the prophet, are] written in the book, saying, The voice of one crying [out] in the wilderness, You, prepare the way of the Lord, & make His paths straight.]

And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, & all flesh, [a.k.a. humans,] shall see it together: for the mouth of the Lord [has] spoken it.

The voice said, Cry [out,] & he said, What shall I cry [out?] All flesh is grass, & all [its beauty of it] is [like] a flower of the field. The grass [withers,] & the flower [fades,] because the [Holy] Spirit of the Lord [blows] upon it. Surely, the people [are] grass. The grass [withers,] & the flower [fades:] but the Word of our God shall stand forever.

O Zion, [who brings] good [news,] get [yourself] up into the high mountain. O Jerusalem, [who brings] good [news,] lift up your voice with strength. Lift it up, & [don't] be afraid. Say to the cities of Judah, [Look,] your God! [See,] the Lord God will come with [a] strong hand, & His arm shall rule for Him.

[Watch,] His reward is with Him, & His work [is] before Him. *He shall feed his flock like a Shepherd. He shall gather the lambs with His arm, & carry them [against] His [chest,] & shall gently lead those, that are with young [sheep.] [John 10:11 I Am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd [gives] His life for the sheep.]

Who [has] measured [out] the waters in the hollow [place] of His hand, & [has measured] out heaven with the span, [a.k.a. distance from 1 end of the stretched out hand, to the other,] & [understood] [the amount of dirt] of the earth, in a [measurement,] & weighed [out] the mountains in scales, & the hills in a balance. [Proverbs 30:4 Who [has] ascended up into heaven, or descended? Who [has] gathered the wind in His fists? Who [has] bound the waters in a garment? Who [has] established all the ends of the earth? What is His Name, & what is His Son's Name, if you [can] tell [it?]

Who [has] directed the [Holy] Spirit of the Lord, or [has] [been] His counselor & [has] taught Him? [Romans 11:33-34 How unsearchable are His judgments, & the depth of the [richness] of both: the wisdom & knowledge of God! And His ways [are] past, [a.k.a. beyond,] finding out! For who [has] known the mind of the Lord? Or Who [has] been His [counselor, a.k.a. advisor?] Or who [has] 1st given to [God,] & it shall be [repaid] to him again? All things are for [God,] & [through] Him, to Whom [is] glory forever. Amen.]

With whom, [did] He [take] counsel, & who instructed Him, & taught Him in the path of judgment, [a.k.a. justice,] & taught Him knowledge, & [declared to] Him the way of understanding? [Luke 2:42-49 And when He was 12 years old, they went up to Jerusalem, [according] to the custom of the feast. And when they had [finished] the days, as they returned, the child, Jesus, [lingered] behind in Jerusalem, & Joseph & his mother [didn't] know of it. But they [thought] him to have been in the company, & went a day's journey. And they sought Him among their [relatives,] & [acquaintances.] And when they [didn't find] Him, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking Him. And it [happened,] that after 3 days, they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, & asking them questions. *And all [who] heard Him, were astonished at His understanding, & answers. And when they saw Him, they were amazed: & His mother said to Him, Son, why [have] You [done this to us?] [Look,] your father, & I have [searched for] You, sorrowing. And He said to them, How is it that you sought Me? [Didn't] you know] that I must be about My Father's business?]

[See,] the nations are [like] [one] drop [of water in] a bucket, & are [considered like] small dust [in] the balance, [a.k.a. scales.]

[Look,] He [lifts] up the [coastal islands like] [it's] a very [small] thing. And  Lebanon isn't [enough] to burn [like wood,] nor [are there] [enough animals from there] for a burnt offering. All nations before [God] are [like] nothing, & they are [considered] to Him, [like] vanity, & less than nothing.

Then, to whom will you [say is similar to] God? Or what [image] will you compare to Him? [Acts 17:29-30 [Since, like] we are the offspring of God, then we [shouldn't] think that [God's divine nature] is [similar] to gold, silver, or [carved rock, artistically carved by] man's [devices.] And God winked at the times of this ignorance; but now commands all men everywhere to repent.]

The workman [melts] [& makes] a [carved] image, & the goldsmith [spreads] over it with gold, & [casts] silver chains. [Psalm 115:4-9 Their idols are silver & gold, the work of men's hands. They have mouths, but they [don't] speak. They have eyes, but they [don't] see. They have ears, but they [don't] hear. They have noses, but they [don't] smell. They have hands, but they [don't touch.] They have feet, but they [can't] walk. Neither can they speak through their throat. [Those who] make them are [similar] to them, so is everyone who [trusts] in them. O Israel, you, trust in the Lord. He is their help & their shield.]

He, [who] is so [poor] that he [doesn't have] an [offering, chooses] a tree that won't rot. He [seeks] a [skillful] workman [for himself] to prepare a [carved] image, [so] that it [can't] be moved.] Haven't you known? Haven't you heard? Hasn't it been told [to] you from the beginning?

Haven't you understood from the [creation] of the earth? [Genesis 1:1-3 In the beginning, God created the heaven & the earth. And the earth was without form, & void; & darkness was upon the [surface] of the deep. And the [Holy] Spirit of God moved upon the [surface] of the waters. And God said, Let there be light & there was light.]

It is He, [Who sits] upon the circle, [a.k.a. equator,] of the earth, & [its] inhabitants are [like] grasshoppers, & [Who stretches] out the heavens [like] a curtain, & [spreads] them out, [like] a tent to dwell in. He, [Who] [makes] the judges of the earth [like] vanity, & [brings] the princes to nothing.

[Yes:] they shall not be planted; & they shall not be sown. [Yes,] their [tree stump] shall not take root in the earth, & He shall also blow upon them, & they shall wither. And the [tornado] shall take them away [like] stubble. To whom then, will you [compare] Me, or [to whom] shall I be equal? [says] the Holy One.

Lift up your eyes on high. & [see] Who [has] created these things, & [Who brings] out their host, [a.k.a. stars, & constellations,] [without] number. He [calls] them all by names, [through] the greatness of His might, for He is strong in power, not one [thing He intends,] [fails.] [Job 38:31-33 [Can] you bind, [a.k.a. tie up,] the sweet influences of Pleiades, or [loosen] the bands of Orion? [Can] you bring [out] Mazzaroth in his season? Or [can] you guide Arcturus, [a.k.a. The Great Bear,] with his sons? [Do] you [know] the [rules] of heaven? [Can] you [put] the dominion [of it on] the earth?]

O Jacob, Why [do] you [say,] & [speak,] O Israel, [saying,] My [ways are hidden] from the Lord, & my judgment, [a.k.a. justice,] is [overlooked by] my God?

[Isaiah 54:7-8 For a [little] moment, I have [abandoned] you. But I will gather you with great mercies. I hid My face from you for a moment, in a little [anger,] but I will have mercy on you, with everlasting kindness, [says] the Lord your Redeemer.]

[Haven't] you known? [Haven't] you heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, [doesn't]  faint, [a.k.a. give up,] & neither is [He] [tired?] There is no searching [the limits] of His understanding. He [gives] power to the [faint-hearted,] & He [increases] strength to [those who] have no might.

Even the youths shall be [faint-hearted,] & [tired,] & the young men shall [totally] fall. But [those who] wait upon the Lord, shall renew their strength. They shall [lift] up with wings, [like] eagles.  [Psalm 103:5-6 Who [satisfies] your mouth with good things; so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. The Lord [carries out] righteousness, & judgment, [a.k.a. justice,] for all [who] are oppressed.]]

They shall run, & not be [tired,] & they shall walk, & not faint. [Hebrews 12:1-2 [For this reason since,] we are also [surrounded around] with so [many] witnesses, [like with] a cloud, let us lay aside every [weighty] & [sinful] [matter,] [that] so easily [besets, a.k.a. plagues,] us, & let us run the race that is [put in front of] us with patience, looking to Jesus, the Author, & Finisher of our faith. Who for the joy that was [put] before Him, despising the shame, endured the cross, & is [sitting] down at the right hand of the throne of God.]
