Hezekiah Shows Those from Babylon All His Treasures |
Isaiah 39:1-8 The Book of Isaiah [in Smaller Chunks] |
At that time, Merodach Baladan, [Baladan's] son, [Babylon's] king, sent letters & a present to Hezekiah. For he had heard that [Hezekiah] was sick & [had] recovered. |
And Hezekiah was glad [about] them & [showed] them the house of his precious [treasures:] the silver, gold, spices, precious ointment & all the house [with] his armor & all that was found in his treasures. There was nothing in his house, nor in all his [kingdom,] that Hezekiah [hadn't shown] them. |
Then, Isaiah, the prophet, came to king Hezekiah & said to him, What [did these] men [say?] [Where did] they [come] from? And Hezekiah said, They [have] come from a far country to me, even from Babylon. |
Then [Isaiah asked,] What have they seen in your house? And Hezekiah answered, They have seen all that in [my] house & there is nothing among my treasures, that I haven't [shown] them. |
Then, Isaiah said to Hezekiah, Hear the Word of the Lord of Hosts. [Watch, the days come, that all that is in your house & [what the forefathers have stored] up until this day, shall be carried to Babylon. Nothing shall be left, says the Lord. |
And they shall take away your [future] sons that shall [come] from you, which you shall [father] & they shall become eunuchs in the palace of [Babylon's] king. Then, Hezekiah said to Isaiah, The Word of the Lord that you have spoken is good. He [additionally said,] There shall be peace & truth [during] my days. |
