Judas Wanted the Money Given to the Poor, So He Could Steal It Instead |
John 12:1-50 The Gospel According to John [in Smaller Chunks] |
Then, 6 days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, [who] had been dead, & whom [Jesus] raised from the dead. [John 11:43-44 And when [Jesus] had spoken [this,] He cried [out] with a loud voice, Lazarus, come [out.] And [Lazarus, who] was dead came out, [tied] hand & foot with [grave cloths;] & [tied around] his face, was a napkin. Jesus [said] to them, Loosen him, & let him go.] |
They made [Jesus] a supper there, & Martha served. But Lazarus was one of [those, who] sat at the table with [Jesus.] Then, Mary took a pound of costly spikenard ointment, [a.k.a. fragrant oil,] & anointed [Jesus'] feet & wiped His feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the [aroma] of the ointment. |
Then, 1 of [Jesus'] disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, [who would] betray [Jesus, said,] Why wasn't this ointment sold for 300 pence, & given to the poor? This, [Judas] said, not that he cared [about] the poor; but because he was a thief, & had the [money] bag, & [carried,] what was put [in it.] |
*Then, Jesus said, Let her alone. She [has done] this [for] the day of My burying. [Luke 23:55-56 *And the women, [who] came with [Jesus] from Galilee, & followed after [Him,] also [saw] the [tomb,] & how [Jesus'] body was laid. And they returned, & prepared spices & ointments. And rested the Sabbath Day, according to the commandment.] |
*For you have the poor with you always. [Deuteronomy 15:11 *For the poor shall never cease out of the land. Therefore, I command you, saying, You [shall] open your hand wide to your brother, to your poor, & to your needy, in the land.] |
*But you [won't] have Me always. [Acts 1:9-11 *And when [Jesus] had spoken these things, while they [watched,] a cloud received [Jesus,] & He was taken up out of their sight. And while they looked [steadily] up toward heaven, & [saw] 2 men stood by them in white [garments. Who] also said, Why do you men of Galilee stand gazing up into heaven. This same Jesus, [Who] was taken up from you into heaven, shall [also] come in [similar] manner, as you have seen Him go into heaven.] |
Therefore, [many] of the [Jews'] people knew that [Jesus] was there. And they [didn't] only [come] for Jesus' sake, but also that they might see Lazarus, whom [Jesus] had raised from the dead. |
But the chief priests consulted, [so] that they might also put Lazarus to death; [for] that reason. Many of the Jews went away, & believed [in] Jesus, because [of Lazarus.] |
*On the next day, when [many] people [who] were [coming] to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, took branches [from] palm trees, & went [out] to meet [Jesus,] & cried [out,] Hosanna. Blessed is the King of Israel, [Who] comes in the Name of the Lord. [Psalm 118:26 *Blessed be He, [Who comes] in the Name of the Lord. Out of the house of the Lord, we have blessed You.] |
*And when Jesus had found a young [donkey,] & sat [on it, like] it is written [in the Scriptures,] [Don't] fear, daughter of Sion, [a..k.a. Zion, see,] your King [comes,] sitting on a [donkey's] colt. [Zechariah 9:9 *Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion. Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem. [See,] your King [comes] to you. He is just, [a.k.a. fair,] & [has] Salvation; lowly, & riding upon [a donkey,] & upon the foal of [a donkey.] |
[Jesus'] disciples [didn't understand] these things, at first. But when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written [about] Him, & that they had done these things to Him. |
Therefore, the people, bare record, [a.k.a. witnessed, who were] with [Jesus,] when He called Lazarus out of the grave, & raised him from the dead. For this [reason,] the people also met [Jesus,] for they heard that [Jesus] had done this miracle. |
Therefore, the Pharisees said among themselves, [Don't] you [realize,] how you [aren't] [prevailing, a.k.a. having any success?] [See,] the world [has] gone after [Jesus.] [John 11:47-48 Then, the chief priest, & the Pharisees gathered a council, & said, What do we [do?] For this Man [does] many miracles. If we let Him alone [like this,] all men will believe [in] Him. And the Romans shall come & take away both our: [positions,] & nation.] |
And there were [some] Greeks among them, [who] came up to worship at the feast. Therefore, [these] came to Philip, [who] was [from] Bethsaida of Galilee, & desired [to see] [Jesus,] saying, Sir, we would [like to] see Jesus. Philip [went] & [told] Andrew. And again, Philip & Andrew [told] Jesus. |
And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour [has] come, that the Son of Man should be glorified. [Very, truly,] I say to you, [unless] a [kernel] of wheat [falls] into the ground & [dies,] it [remains] alone. But if it [dies,] it [produces] much fruit. |
He, [who loves] his life, shall lose it. And he, [who hates] his life in this world, shall keep it, [a.k.a. preserve it, until] eternal Life. If any man [serves] Me, let him follow Me. And where I Am, there My servant shall also be. [Matthew 26:24 Then, Jesus said to His disciples, If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, & take up his cross, & follow Me.] |
If any man [serves] Me, My Father will honor him. Now, My soul is troubled, & what shall I say? *Father, save Me from this hour: but [it's] for this [reason,] I came to this hour. [John 18:37-38 *Therefore, Pilate said to [Jesus,] Then, [are] You a king? Jesus answered, You [say] that I Am a King. To this end, I was born. |
And I came into the world for this [reason, so] that I should bear witness, [a.k.a. testify,] to the Truth. Everyone, [who] is of the Truth hears My voice. Pilate said to [Jesus,] What is Truth? And when he had said this, [Pilate] went out again to the Jews, & said to them, I find no fault in Him, no fault at all.] |
Father, glorify Your Name. Then, a voice came there from heaven, saying, I have both: gloried it, & will glorify it again. Therefore, the people, [who] stood [nearby,] & heard it, said that it thundered. Others said, An Angel [spoke] to [Jesus.] |
Jesus answered & said, This voice [didn't come] because of Me, but for your sakes. Now, is the judgment of the world. Now, the prince of this world shall be cast out. [John 8:44 You are of your father, the devil, & you will do the lusts of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, & [didn't live] in truth, because there is no truth in him. When he [speaks] a lie, he speaks of his [ownself:] for he is a liar, & the father of it.] |
And if I [am] lifted up from the earth, I will draw all men to Me. [John 3:14 And [like] Moses lifted up the serpent, [a.k.a. snake,] in the wilderness, even so the Son of Man must be lifted up.] |
*[Jesus] said this, [to] [signify] what death, He should die. [Isaiah 53:7-8 *He was oppressed, & He was afflicted, [still] He [didn't] open His mouth. He is brought [like] a lamb to the slaughter, & [like] a sheep is [mute in front of its] shearers, so He [didn't open] His mouth. *He was taken from prison, & from judgment, [a.k.a. justice.] And who shall declare His generation? For He was cut off out of the land of the living. For He was [struck] for the [sins] of My people.] |
The people answered, [Jesus,] We have heard [from] the Law, that Christ [remains] forever. And how [do] You [say,] The Son of Man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of Man? |
Then, Jesus said to them, [still] a little while, the Light is with you. Walk while you have the Light, lest darkness [comes] upon you. For he, [who walks] in darkness [doesn't know where] he [goes.] [John 8:12 Then Jesus [spoke] again to them, I Am the Light of the world. He, [who follows] Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the Light of Life.] |
*While you have Light, believe in the Light, [so] that you may be the children of Light. [Isaiah 9:2 *The people, [who] walked in darkness, have seen a great Light. The Light has shined upon [those who live] in the land of the shadow of death.] |
Jesus [spoke] these things, & [left,] & [hid] Himself from them. [Matthew 26:3-4 Then the chief priests, scribes, & elders of the people assembled together, to the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas, & consulted, [so] that they might take Jesus by subtilty, [a.k.a. trickery,] & kill Him.] |
But [even though] He had done so many miracles [in front of] them, they [didn't] believe in Him. [Matthew 15:30 And [large] multitudes came to [Jesus,] having with them those [who] were: lame; blind; [mute; crippled;] & many others, & they cast them down at Jesus' feet; & He healed them.] |
[So,] that the saying of [Isaiah,] the prophet [spoke,] might be fulfilled, Lord, who [has] believed our report, [a.k.a. testimony?] And to whom [has] the arm of the Lord been revealed? [Isaiah 53:1-3 *Who [has] believed our report? And to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed. For He shall grow up before Him, [like] a tender plant, & [like] a Root out of dry ground. |
He has no [pleasant] [image,] nor [attractiveness. And when we shall see Him, there is no beauty, that we should desire Him. *He is despised & rejected [by] men. A man of sorrows, & acquainted with grief. And we hid, [like] it were our faces from Him. He was despised, & we [didn't hold] Him [in high regard.] |
Therefore, they [wouldn't] believe, because [Isaiah] said again, *He [has] blinded their eyes, & hardened their heart, [so] that they [couldn't] see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, & be converted, [so] I [could] heal them. [Isaiah 6:9-10 *And [the Lord] said, Go, & tell this people, You indeed hear, but [don't] understand. And you indeed see, but [don't recognize.] |
*Make the heart of this people fat, [a.k.a. thick,] & make their ears heavy. And shut their eyes, lest they see with their eyes, hear with their ears, & understand with their heart, & convert, & be healed.] |
[Isaiah,] said these things, when he saw His glory, & [spoke] of Him. [Still,] many among the chief rulers also believed [in Jesus.] But they didn't confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue, because of the Pharisees. For they loved the praise of men, more than the praise of God. |
Jesus cried [out] & said, He, [who believes in] Me, [doesn't] [only] [believe in] Me, but [in] Him, [Who] sent Me. And he, [who sees] Me, [sees] Him, [Who] sent Me. [John 8:14 Jesus answered & said to them, [Although,] I bear record, [a.k.a. testify,] of Myself, [still] My record is True. For I know [from where] I came, & [where] I go. But you can't tell [from where] I [came,] & [where] I go.] |
I Am come [as] a Light into the world, [so] that [whoever believes in] Me, should not [remain] in darkness. [John 9:4-5 I must [do] the works of Him, [Who] sent Me, while it is day. The night [comes,] when no man can work. As long as I Am in the world, I Am the Light of the world.] |
And if any man [hears] My Words, & [doesn't] believe, I [don't] judge him; for I [didn't come] to judge the world, but to save the world. He, [who rejects] Me, & doesn't receive, [a.k.a. accept,] My Words, has One, [Who judges] him. The Word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him, [on] the last day. [Luke 10:16 He, [who] [hears] you, [hears] Me. And he, [who despises] you, [despises] Me. And he, [who despises] Me, [despises] Him, [Who] sent Me.] |
*For I haven't spoken of Myself. But the Father, [Who] sent Me, He gave Me a commandment, [of] what I should say, & what I should speak. [Deuteronomy 18:18-19 *I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, [similar] to you, & will put My Words in His mouth, & He shall speak to them, all that I shall command Him. *And it shall [happen,] that [whoever] won't [pay attention] to My Words [that] He shall speak in My Name, I shall require it of him, [a.k.a. hold him accountable for disregarding My Words. ] |
I know that His commandment is [what leads to] everlasting Life. Therefore, [whatever] I speak, I speak even as the father said to Me. [John 8:28 Then, Jesus said to them, When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you shall know that I Am He, & that I do nothing of Myself. But I speak these things, [like] My Father [has] taught Me.] |
The Lord God had writing Books of the Bible [in Smaller Chunks] on my heart, for those in our busy world, with [smaller chunks of time]. More posts will be added when completed!
About the Author of the Blogsite, Not the Author of the Bible:
About the Author of the Blogsite, Not the Author of the Bible: I was uncertain of how to accomplish this, mindful of Revelation 22:18-19, which says that nobody is to add to, or to take away from what was written in the Bible. After lots of prayerful contemplation, the Lord had it on my heart that I’m not to change the meaning of what is written in the Bible. He has also shown ways to add to people’s understating of that meaning, without altering the meaning, by putting that info within [brackets]. This is primarily accomplished with the KJV Bible and lots of prayers, but at times, BibleGateway.com, Biblehub.com, NIV Bible, Webster Dictionary, and other internet resources, as needed. About Understanding the Bible:
Understanding the Bible: After reading Isaiah 28:10 many times over the years and not totally understanding it, it recently became apparent to me that the Lord God has this passage as the means for understanding the Bible.
For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little. Isaiah 28:10 KJV.
Being prayerful about this passage, and looking up 'precept' in the Webster's Dictionary, it gave this passage a whole new meaning, once 'commandment' is substituted for 'precept'. Within brackets are additional words the Lord had on my heart to aid in understanding the meaning.
For commandment must be [built up] upon commandment; commandment upon commandment; line upon line, line upon line; [developing understanding] here a little, and there a little.
The Table Format:
The Table Format: I was overwhelmed with how to explain the process for determining if someone had leprosy in Leviticus 13, which seemed very complicated. After praying, "Lord, if this is difficult for me to understand after reading it many times, how can this be explained to others?" The thought the Lord God had on my heart was for me to put it into a vertical chart to visually see the process. This made it much easier for me to follow the progression. After doing so, I prayed, "Lord, how can this be conveyed to readers, so that they can understand this process?" The thought the Lord God had on my heart was to put it within the lines of a table. Being a stiff-necked, stubborn person, as it's often called in the Bible, I prayed, asking the Lord God if He's sure that's really what He wanted me to do? I reluctantly put Leviticus 13 into a table format. When I read this difficult leprosy process within a table format, it suddenly became easier for me to understand. That's because it builds line upon line, as explained in the Understanding the Bible section. Shortly after that, the Lord God had it on my heart, to put all of The Books of the Bible in Smaller Chunks within a table format, to aid in understanding, line upon line.
